Marc Smason

Arranger/Composer, Ethnic, Jazz

As a young child in Texas, trombonist/vocalist/composer, Marc Smason learned to sing from his mother and later studied classical and jazz trombone with Ken Cloud, Stu Dempster, Julian Priester & Slide Hampton. He studied voice with Jay Clayton (jazz), Yo Jin Chong (Korean) & Ki Wasitodipuro (Javanese), and composition with Michael Young. Marc has a BFA from CA Institute of the Arts and is a long-time member of the AFM. He has performed with Big Joe Turner, the Funk Brothers, Carlos Santana, Eddie Henderson, Type A, Mark Levine, Wilbur Morris, Sam Shepard, Julian Priester, Buel Neidlinger, Rick Mandyke, Sonny Simmons, Eyvind Kang, Marc Graham and Baby Gramps. His playing encompasses many styles including jazz, latin, Brazilian, collective improv, klezmer and R&B.


Al Hirsch “Alleyoop”

Storyteller. author, historian, poet, riddler, folklorist, puppeteer, musician, singer, teacher, dad, and now a grandpa!
Al Hirsch performs for Schools, Libraries, Fairs and Festivals He knows more songs, stories and riddles, than anybody else his size or shape. He has at least one story or song for every occasion. He has more whistles than you can shake a stick at. Children of all ages love his “Limberjack” routine. His original musical games are a hoot! He often uses puppets with the younger children, including “Billy Bear the Silly Bear”, “Jack Rabbit Dagnabbit”. and “Toby the Tortoise.”


Seattle Labor Chorus

Directed by Janet Stecher, an experienced vocal performer and recording artist (in the duo Rebel Voices), the chorus is a nonprofit organization dedicated to economic and social justice, and the fundamental right of all workers to organize as a means of securing a living wage. Formed in 1997, the Seattle Labor Chorus sings for local unions, fundraising events and rallies; on picket lines, and in concert halls.


Leslie McMichael

A graduate of Wellesley College, Leslie McMichael’s musical pursuits include performance, teaching, recording, and composition. Her musical arrangements are available from Mel Bay Publishing and Vanderbilt Publications, and she’s currently in the recording studio working on two releases of traditional music for lever harp and original songs on her electric harp.


Bren Plummer


Bren Plummer is a double bassist and composer from Seattle, Washington. Known as an insightful interpreter of both jazz and classical music, Plummer is a member of two professional orchestras in Washington state and a regular contributor to jazz venues and night clubs all around Seattle. With access to some of the best musicians in the Seattle area, Bren can always assemble a great jazz group for any event or occasion. Solo, Duos, Trios and larger ensembles available.


Brian Lally

Robert Pongo


Robert began playing professionally in 1993. Since then he has performed jazz, funk, Latin and pop music in various clubs and at many different music festivals in Europe. In 1997-1998 he attended Music Academy in Budapest where he learned to read sheet music. In 2002 he was awarded first prize at the competition of drummers in Budapest where Jack DeJohnette was the head of the jury. As a band leader of a jazz trio and a show band, he has been contracted by some of the most prestigious companies offering entertainment, such as Grand Hotel, Aida Cruises and Color Line Cruises. His musicianship has been enriched by the experience of playing in a big band as well as numerous recording studio sessions.

Danny O’Keefe

Danny’s songs have been recorded by Willie Nelson, Elvis Presley, Chet Atkins and many more. He is one of the finest folk musicians in the Pacific Northwest!


Jay C. Easton

This unique multi-instrumentalist plays over 40 woodwind instruments, and specializes in the complete saxophone family, from the rare piccolo sax to the 6-foot-tall contrabass sax. In addition to performing as a soloist, Jay’s eclectic selection of small ensembles are available to provide classical, ragtime, Renaissance music, and more for weddings, private parties and corporate events.


Peter Caruso

This experienced and respected local guitarist is at home in any setting as a soloist or with orchestras and small ensembles. He is noted for his warm and engaging performance style, along with great attention to detail. In addition to classical music he is well versed in a range of other styles including Jazz, Latin and Brazilian. Peter is also a sought after instructor and keeps a private teaching studio on the east side.


Julie Cho

Julie Cho took studies in Germany. She is currently playing for the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra and coaches group classes for the Seattle Conservatory’s Eastside Chamber Program.


Bill Anschell

Pianist Bill Anschell was voted “Northwest Jazz Instrumentalist the Year” in 2005 and 2010 by the Seattle jazz community, and his trio was voted “Northwest Acoustic Jazz Ensemble of the Year.” He’ll put together an ensemble to suit your needs, adding any configuration of bass, drums, sax, guitar, trumpet, and/or vocals. Angela Rinaldi

Pianist, Angela Rinaldi has been a Dance Musician in the Seattle area since 1979 at Pacific Northwest Ballet, University of Washington, Cornish College of the Arts, Whitman College and Spectrum Dance Theater, to name a few. Of her dance music, the San Francisco Ballet says “Angela’s artistry and knowledge of ballet technique inspires the student to execute the desired quality of movement.” She is also an actor, director and composer. Julian Catford

Julian Catford – guitarist, plays Spanish and classical guitar, Latin, jazz, swing, Brazilian, tango, French waltzes and Flamenco. From studies in classical guitar with Guillermo Fierens (a student of Andre Segovia), jazz performances with Cab Calloway and Rosemary Clooney, appearances at many local festivals, including Bumbershoot, and release of his Latin jazz CD ŒSonoroso, Julian has over 25 years performing experience. He teaches guitar at Seattle Pacific University. Solo & Small Groups available.

The award-winning Carmona Flamenco has made extensive concert, festival, and cabaret appearances throughout Spain and the United States. Often performing with guest artists, Carmona Flamenco specializes in contemporary and traditional flamenco music, dance, and song.


Seumas Gagné

Celtic, Ethnic, Solo

Seumas Gagné has been playing the music of the Highland and Irish Gaels on the Celtic harp for more than thirty years. After finishing his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Music at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, his attention returned to his first love, the traditional music of Scotland and Ireland. This music led him deeper into the world of the Gael until learning the Gaelic language became the natural next step. Seumas was one of the founding members of the band Wicked Celts and recorded one CD with them, Prophecy and Blessing in 1997.

Robert Gale

Robert Gale has been playing and teaching trumpet in the Seattle area for 20 years. His teachers include Fred Sautter (Oregon Symphony), Christopher Leuba (Chicago Symphony) Jerry Oram, and Claude Gordon. He plays in the Northwest Sinfonietta, Federal Way Symphony, Seattle Trumpet Consort, and Pacific Brass Quintet. He also teaches band and private lessons at several locations in Renton, Kent, and his home in Mountlake Terrace.


Monica Schley

Monica Schley is a classically trained Seattle harpist who freelances in many styles: classical, new music, improvisational, jazz and rock. She has 20 years of experience playing for private engagements, weddings, recording, live performance, and funerals. Some of the musicians she has worked with are Butch Morris, Evan Flory-Barnes, Jherek Bischoff, Masada, Jesse Sykes, Jim Knapp, Hey Marsailles and Kanye West. She has played at venues such as Bumbershoot, The Triple Door, Fairmont Olympic Hotel, and Microsoft.


George Turner

After graduating from the Guitar Institute of Technology, in 1981, I moved to the Seattle area. Since then, I’ve been playing in local bands, drawing on many different styles such as rock, pop, jazz, latin, country, and even Hawaiian. I also began teaching guitar, which I continue to do. Beginning in the 1990’s I began to play as solo instrumentalist, adding classical music to my repertoire. I love performing music in many styles and for all types of occasions.

Maggie Laird

Pete Leinonen

Arranger/Composer, Jazz, Pop/Rock, Variety

Pete has been an active composer/arranger for nearly fifty years. His work has featured in several films and has been documented in regional music history books. Pete has had many commissions and grants in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. He has also collaborated with several well known poets, including the late Steven “Jesse” Bernstein and Roberto Valenza. Pete studied composition and arranging with William O. Smith, Gary Peacock, Dave Holland and others. He has a B.A. in music from the University of Washington and has done graduate work with Robert Garfias and John Wittwer.


Local band leader/bassist Pete Leinonen has six bands that range from Swing, Big Band, modern Jazz, Latin, and Hawaiian, to a true Mardi Gras Dixieland Brass band!

Murl Allen Sanders

Murl Allen Sanders is a free-lance musician, composer, teacher and recording artist who has been active in the Seattle area music scene and across the United States, Canada, England, Brazil and Japan for over thirty years. He performs and records regularly with his own bands, as a soloist, and with numerous bands in the Northwest.
Murl plays piano, accordion, Hammond B-3 organ, electronic keyboards, harmonica, sings, teaches and composes music. Murl has worked with such diverse artists as Chuck Berry, Etta James, Il Divo, Glenn Yarbrough, Leroy Bell, Peter Duchin, Alarm Will Sound, The Von Trapp Children, Theodore Bikel, Leslie Gore, Barbara Lamb, Susan Pascal, Pearl Django, Michael Tomlinson and Kelly Harland, among many others.
